Fly fishing never really sounded that interesting to me until my brothers started talking about it with such excitement. They started sharing stories, comparing notes, planning adventures. Suddenly I wanted in, but I don’t fly fish — what do I do? I was mulling this over in my head when I stumbled upon the Pasadena Casting Club’s practice pond in the Lower Arroyo Seco Park in Pasadena, bingo!
This is a beautiful facility in the heart of the Lower Arroyo Seco Park. They have a nice, simple clubhouse next to the pond, some picnic benches clustered nearby, and a few benches lining the pond if you need a rest. It is all well maintained and open to the public via the Pasadena Casting Club.
Club membership is free. They host monthly meetings and organize various fly fishing trips as well as beginning workshops, master classes and other events which highlight the art of casting and angling.
If you are a fly fishing enthusiast (or want to become one), I recommend looking into this organization. My only question, “what shall I wear?”
