“Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat!” Remember that little jingle? In six months time it will be raising-the-roof on radio stations all over town. Yep, six months from today is Christmas. Delightfully that means thousands of colored lights will cover houses, buildings, boats, but none quite as wonderfully robust as those displayed at the Riverside Mission Inn…ah, Christmas in Riverside.

Sierra Madre, Hello 1950’s!
On a rather average Saturday afternoon, Spaceman and I took a trip down highway 210 and exited to Sierra Madre, hello 1950’s! I have mentioned this town in a previous post here, but it is worth a more in-depth exploration as 2015 has been a tough start and I wanted to turn back the clock for a moment to when things sounded better…and I heard there was a good ice cream shop there.
Fiji for Lovers
Love is in the air…or at least in my house as this is our anniversary week. Yes, I have decided to keep celebrating our anniversary for the entire week here at the blog! I suppose everyone is biased to their own wedding, but I really did have the best time at my wedding…no stress, just fun. After a wonderful celebration, Spaceman and I continued our party in Fiji, first up: The Lalati Resort & Spa.
Road Trip Snack Bag
Passion, it’s what we all want; what we long to surround ourselves with in work, play, life. Luckily I have found a way to incorporate my three passions — Spaceman, travel, and food — with the road trip. Since I am not willing to share Spaceman, and travel is subjective, I am going to share with you three staples for a perfect Road Trip Snack Bag.
Arches National Park, Utah…Road Trip!
“June gloom” has engulfed today with its clouds. This has made me reflect on sunnier days…specifically a girls’ trip I took to Moab, Utah to visit Arches National Park.
Helsinki’s Hietaniemi Cemetery, Perfect Spot for a Stroll
Americans often equate cemeteries with sadness, loss, grief — not so in Finland, and Helsinki in particular. Here they stroll among the departed in one of the most beautiful cemeteries I have visited, Hietaniemi Cemetery which overlooks the bay of Lapinlahti.
Joshua Tree National Park, Hello Crazy Land!
Joshua Tree National Park is a drive into another world. Inside the park’s parameters lies sleepy Skull Rock — one of many interesting finds in this quirky, protected treasure-land. Continue reading

The Way of the Cross – Yarnell, AZ
Holy Week is upon us once again. The stores are filled with decorative Easter bunnies and kids are excited for egg hunts and extra chocolate. With all the commercialization, it has become easy (even convenient) for us to forget what this week gave to us so long ago…freedom. The Way of the Cross at the St. Joseph Shrine of the Mountains in Yarnell, Arizona, is a beautiful, tranquil spot where you can slow down and remember.
The Burbank Spa & Garden, a City Oasis
Ah, the magical days of summer will soon be upon us. Summer vacations, eating watermelon on the front steps, enjoying days at the beach and pool…which all mean I must rid myself of my winter jiggle (aka: get in shape). I have taken well to this idea and have started going to pilates classes. The instructor and classes are great (more in a future post), but the fall-out is stiffer muscles and new aches — at least until my body ramps-up. The plus side of that is the need for a visit to the Burbank Spa and Garden.
